McKinsey in 2016 showed that only 37% of the entry-level roles in tech companies were held by women. That number drops even further the higher up the business ladder you go, with women making up only 25% of senior management roles, and 15% of C-suite positions.

Technology is still perceived as a “boys club,” and with the work I do in tech, I see first hand that it is still an industry with one dominant gender.

Women in Tech is changing this. With some of the top talent in tech participating in the initiative, and several top brands sponsoring, Women in Tech will be at the forefront of showing why technology is an exciting career opportunity for young women.

So what’s one of the ways to encourage involvement? Recognition and role models! Women in Tech’s first awards in 14 categories is later this year. They are accepting applications in those categories until September 30th.

I was honoured to be asked to participate in the Awards Jury! I’ll be participating with 15 other members to select the winners for the awards.
