Over One Million Instagram eyes saw what inequality looks like on the platform.

Why on earth does Instagram allow male nipples but bans female nipples?

At heart, I’m an activist. It doesn’t matter what you believe, who you are, how you choose to express yourself, where you are from, as long as what you do doesn’t harm others (physically, emotionally, mentally), why are you not able to express yourself in a manner of your choosing?

@NippleMagazine on Instagram really hit home for me. My involvement with the team of warriors wanting to change the perception of the female nipple has become an anthem of what is wrong with our society overall. Men have nipples. Women have a nipples. Animals in nature have nipples. Why is it that American corporations have this “taboo” when it comes to showing women’s nipples?

To highlight this, we reached out to the social media community, the press, and the public at large to say, this is not right. Women’s nipples should not be this super secret taboo item that should be hidden, while Cristiano Ronaldo or any other World Cup football player whips off his uniform to showcase his nipples every time they score a goal.

The campaign was a huge success.

Over 200 women (and a few men) sent images showing what their nipple become on Instagram. Avocados. Emojis. Eggs. Trump’s head. Glitter. Butterflies. Flowers. Joysticks. Men’s nipples superimposed. Dinosaurs. The list goes on. They were all posted on @nipplemagazine’s instastories over a 24 hour period.

On June 28th the @nipplemagazine profile had OVER ONE MILLION impressions in 24 hours.  OVER ONE MILLION.

We are just getting started. Instagram needs to change their policy, and give equality to both men and women to share their nipples with no shame attached! It is one small step towards true equality for all, worldwide.
