Beachside paella punctuated by fresh produce makes a bold and tasty combo.

Barraca gives organic and locally sourced ingredients an amazing flavour.

Paella. It’s one of the first things visitors to Barcelona think about to eat, and in Barcelona there’s two types of paella. Tourist Paella. Real Paella. You Eat With Dot advice for today is, skip the tourist paella and eat real paella.

If you want real paella, and you know you do, Barraca is your place. One of the Tribu Woki restaurants, Barraca has a sole focus on healthy, organic, and local products. It’s this combination that makes what they produce so damn tasty.

Add the AHMAZING view of the Mediterranean, which just happens to be across the street, and you have a winning formula of atmosphere, culinary quality, and kick ass service.

Barraca has a relaxed feel, without compromising the top selections on the menu. I had the steamed mussels with composed tomato for starters (awesome), followed by the tasty Artisan Barrata Salad (tomato, balsamic, arugula, and more), followed by the perfect paella with a medley of fresh seafood. It was like so fresh, it was as if they went across the street to source the seafood specifically for my meal. Wowsers!

Barraca offers a medley of other options for paella, including one that I can’t wait to go back and try, which is ALL MEAT. Lamb, ribs, chicken, sausage and artichokes for the win! Plus they have duck paella, a vegetarian paella, “fideua”, plus a few other unique paella treats.

Beyond paella, Barraca also offers other seafood options, including a baked fish, daily fish “romescada”, rockfish served the Andalusian way, and more.

If dessert is your thing, then you’ve come to the right place with mascarpone cheesecake, crocanti Barraca (my fave), and a unique ginger mousse with matcha tea.

Tribu Woki is such an amazing group, with not only five dining options around the city but also seven organic markets where you can pick up many of the same ingredients they use in their dining experiences.

Tired of the typical chiringuito experience in Barcelona? Then you have to make Barraca a MUST GO on your culinary list!
